Acrylic/Oil on canvas 20x24
"Ikarian Dream", my roots as a Greek-American. Icarus and his father made the wings to carry them from bondage from the Island now called Ikaria, Greece. Written in mythology, Icarus dis-regarded his father's words and flew too close to the sun which melted the wax that held the wings together and he fell into the sea. I am honored that my family is from the island of Ikaria and I have spent many lovely summers there. There is a magical breeze throughout that has touched me in such a way that I felt I needed to celebrate its' history. It is a small island in the Aegean Sea off the coast of Turkey.
